What is physical health and how it can be achieved?

The opposite of the word health is disease. The word disease itself shows it is saying dis-ease pointing to some kind of discomfort or uneasiness. The typical definition of health was to be free of sickness or disease but now WHO has changed the evaluation parameters for health assessment.

These evaluations include how a person is overall well concerning social, physical, mental, and emotional status. Being physically healthy is not limited to the point of having any disease, it is connected with social and emotional health

For instance, a person who is physically slow and lethargic and does not feel good would be feeling detached from the outer world due to being weak. Eventually, he would run out of social connections feeling lonely and depressed.

On a similar side, mental health is highly associated with physical wellness as these are linked in a way that if a person is sick for a long time, he would be emotionally weak and this instability of mental health would ultimately lead to chronic issues i.e. diabetes, depression, etc.
So a person can’t be perfectly fine if he is not physically active and disease free.

Health is precious. Be careful.

Components of physical health

Physical health is not merely being active and doing exercises. It is comprised of a whole set of practices that can insert a positive impact on one’s daily life in the long run.
These important components are listed below:
• Lifestyle and physical health management
• Diet and nutrition
• Well-planned & regular medical checkups
• Sleep and relaxation

Your health needs attention. Be attentive!

Lifestyle and physical health management

Lifestyle is a broader term. A healthy lifestyle includes all the important factors that can affect one’s daily life and routine. A healthy lifestyle plays an important role in prolonging the lifespan and keeping it active and in the optimal state. If a sedentary lifestyle becomes part of life, it can send an invitation to many diseases. A sedentary lifestyle is meant to make you lazy and keep you away from normal activities when you are supposed to enjoy outdoor activities.

You can make yourself active by a well-put routine of diet, sleep, work, exercise, study, and spending self-growth time. Investing in your health is the best thing you can do for yourself. It will pay you back in an unexpected way.

Physical activities are not always strenuous; these can be light and enjoyable. Going on hiking and walking is the minimum one can do. Moreover, playing some sports can also make the body feel active and optimally healthy.
Physical activities not only support the body but also put a healthy effect on the brain. Keeping up the habits developed for physical activities and sports can help a person evade getting tired and being eaten by negative energy generated by unhealthy thoughts.

A young body in old age is no doubt a blessing and it cannot be purchased unless you make yourself healthy in your youth.

Physical activity would never let you be a procrastinator!

Diet and nutrition

Diet plays an important role in our body and if our body is starved of any single portion of a balanced diet it can affect our health more than our expectations. A balanced diet is a proper diet that contains all components required for the growth of a normal human being. It includes carbohydrates, proteins, healthy fats, dairy products, and green plants. If any of these food components are missing from the diet it can lead to poor growth both physically and mentally.

Let’s suppose, a person is not having anti-inflammatory products in his daily meals, it means he is more prone to inflammation and chronic disorders. If a body is deprived of Vitamin C, plenty of infections can be on the waiting list to enter the body. Likewise, vitamin b12 is an important supplement for nerves in the brain to work properly. If vitamin b12 is not taken regularly it would eventually cause nerve irritation, an impairment that is manifested by numbness in extremities and tingling.

Being dehydrated can affect organs negatively. Keeping an adequate level of water in the body and organs is mandatory. These are just a few examples to show the importance of food items in maintaining our health. We should be careful that the food we are having is healthy for all organs of our body and doesn’t affect them negatively.

Add a rainbow to your diet.

Well-planned & regular medical checkups

Like a machine that works continuously, the human body works every time even when a person is sleeping. It needs attention and maintenance and after a certain time, it is wise to go through a complete medical check-up in case of any problem is noticed at the beginning. It is easier to manage diseases at earlier levels than at advanced levels. After a quarter, a thorough check-up by a physician and running diagnostic tests is a favor one can do to himself.
These medical checkups include complete blood screening, evaluations of vital organs, and urinalysis. It is good to relay the history of little changes in the body to your trusted physician. These regular checkups and screenings can be bothersome and expensive but in the long run, these are companions of one’s health.

Sleep and relaxation

The human body and its organs need a certain time for sleep and relaxation to be refreshed. When a person is sleeping, his/ her body is on standby mode to be recharged by balancing multiple chemicals. It helps to regain energy so activities should be carried by a healthy way. It is evident from scientific research that a person not sleeping properly would befall sick faster than those who rest well. When a person evades rest, his organs start reacting negatively and it can lead to serious problems like autoimmune disorders, diabetes, poor mental health, and nonending series of psychological effects i.e. depression and anxiety.
To be healthy and active throughout the lifespan, it is necessary to have proper rest. Reports show that a person requires an average of 7-8 hours of sound sleep to stay healthy mentally and physically.

Take home message

Physical health covers all the factors that can help a person not fall sick or slow and successfully carry out activities he is supposed to do. A little impairment can affect him widely and make him a less effective person in society. A sick person cannot enjoy life and its blooms, so to keep an active status, one should take care of his / her health. He/ she must do whatever it takes to make him or her healthy as self-care is not selfish
I hope this write-up would help readers to realize the importance of a blessing namely health. Health should be valued before sickness makes it extremely expensive.
