What is health and how do its different types have influence on humans?

Health and its types

Human life and its limitations were not well understood by people back in history. Health was supposed to be related to physical well-being. The world health organization known as WHO has given health a new definition.

Many countries have organized institutes and setups that spend trillions of dollars for the population. After all those efforts and expenditures they failed to get the optimal results. Life expectancy is directly or indirectly affected. Early catching up on diseases and disorders is leading to untimely impairments and deaths.

Universal concepts regarding health

Now we have three kinds of definitions to explain the true meaning of health.

 Conventional concept

 Ecological concept

  The WHO concept

 

When it is studied keenly, it is clear that initially the word health was confined to being physically fit. The conventional concept is regarding physical health and the absence of symptoms.

WHO tried to change the concept and elaborated it is more related to physical, mental, and social behaviors. As time passed by, it was realized that the environment has a deep impact on human beings and it plays an important role in keeping them healthy and active.

Modern categorization of health

Now the types of health can be described as follows

1.         Physical

2.         Psychological

3.         Social

4.         Incorporeal

5.         Ecological

6.         Emotional


Physical health

It truly explains the apparent status of the human body. It is related to physical fitness and the symptoms and manifestation of disease. It is widely controlled by lifestyle, eating habits, and overall consciousness about well-being. Properly functional metabolism and considerate attempts to stay away from disease-carrying sources contribute to maintaining health. It does not count the fact that a healthy person cannot fall sick. It emphasizes the factors that make him get rid of illness and keep him fresh and fit.

It also emphasizes the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and keeping a strong immune system. This particular type of health is connected to medicine and biological therapies.

Psychological/mental health

The actual concept of mental health is different from the usual one that most people have. It is not about psychological disorders or helping them with multiple sources. Mental health is more about maintaining peace and contentment. It involves the level of satisfaction one can get from his life. It also includes performing the daily chores with happiness and without getting worrying.

If a person is mentally unstable he would eventually be physically ill as our brain has a direct effect on our health. A mentally healthy person tends to overcome negative thoughts and is focused on keeping a positive attitude toward life.

Social health

Social well-being deals with a positive attitude toward interpersonal relationships and behavior towards the community by offering a considerable contribution to the community and people around. Studies have shown that if a person is socially active and responsible he will be a good human being and considerate about details in his surroundings. When he keeps on enjoying his relationships and tries to deliver good services, it results in an improvement in his own life. The quality of interpersonal communications and relationships has a direct effect on mental health and overall health outcomes. Positive behaviors for society are always appreciated.

Incorporeal health

In modern society, there are advancements in technology and science, and people are more into technology and believe in the physical and materialistic approach. It is wonderful to have seen the exponential increase in spirituality. Even medical science agrees on this point that patients having spirituality are more likely to survive and have a quality life. Studies have shown that people with better incorporeal health tend to live longer and happier lives. It can be based on the positivity that comes with practicing norms and making life purposeful. It is understandable that if a person is more close to positivity, he would be stronger mentally and emotionally. He always tries to be a grateful being.

Ecological health

Nature is kind to us. We always listen to this phrase but we don't try to evaluate its meanings.  Ecological health is associated with such practices that save nature and eventually living beings. If the environment is full of pollution and does not offer fresh air to inhale it would be a tough job to live a healthy life. Being ecologically conscious enables a person to think about his mother nature and other creatures. He comes to realize it is critically important to saving the environment. He tries his best to make sure the ecosystem is balanced and helps protect the world. He saves energy and power sources, adapts a healthy way of life, and makes his life better.

Emotional health

There is little difference between mental and emotional health.  Emotional health is about empathetic ways to make living better. Good emotional health leads to a healthy mind and a strong will to cope with unwanted events in life. It enables the person to keep working in the right direction and being emotionally strong so that nothing can bring down his morale. Everyone is bound to go through challenges and what is important is standing up after every fall. Bases for emotional health must never be ignored.

Bottom line

Science and philosophy are always changing and so are their interpretations of life. Being healthy does not point toward bodily health;  it is correlated with all types of health and good practices that keep him away from worries, stress, and diseases. No one is perfect but a healthy and content person tends to take care of everything around him. He always stands out in whatever he tries to do. All types of health care are interdependent and that's why no type should be underestimated.

  1. اس لفظ "health" پر کبھی اتنا غور کیا ہی نہیں کہ اس کے اندر اتنی اقسام کا اندازہ کیا جائے.. صحت کے معنی ہمیشہ جسمانی صحت کے حوالے سے پڑھے اور لکھے لیکن بہت خوبصورتی سے آپ نے اس موضوع پر لکھا اور بے شک یہ آج کے دن کا وہ واحد ایسا علم تھا جو واقعی میں کچھ سیکھنے اور پڑھنے لائق تھا ❤️
